Fumio Watanabe is a contemporary Japanese illustrator who makes lovely eye candy in the form of brightly colored illustrations of European landscapes. To make the scenery pop, he’s not afraid to incorporate a wide range of bold color palettes and repeating patterns and textures.
His latest works are a series of imagined European landscapes through the changing of the seasons. The architecture of Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Austria, and Netherlands is among the inspirations. His elegant illustrations look like they belong in vintage postcards and travel posters, with saturation cranked up to 11.
