Limitless, a magazine-style blog based in India, recently unveiled a series of thought provoking photographs, called “Broken India”, which contrast the glamor-laden depictions of India on the web to their real-life versions. The resulting series is shocking and astounding.

The images reveal the grim origins of popular pictures floating around platforms such as Instagram, like the cropped-in portrait of a young girl smiling at the camera, where in reality she is actually smiling while rummaging through trash.
