“Life with B” acrylic, gouache and charcoal 11.5″ x 16.5″

I was born and raised in Northern Italy, in the art-rich region of Veneto.

Arts and design have been in my family for centuries, so mine was a destiny hard to escape. And perhaps it is this pre-determined fate that made me choose a career away from the arts, blooming as an artist only at the reach of the half century mark. I devoted my life to technology, only drawing and painting when I was asked to do so, with the constant pressure of judgment.

“If I were an architect” acrylic, gouache, charcoal, oil pastels and spray paint, 36″ x 24″

My liberation from constraints and critiques arrived one afternoon during the pandemic. A friend informed me of the passing of Fabrizio Gori, an incredible artist and human being. I sat at my table and filled in a sketchbook with drawings that even stunned me. They were unrestrained and raw and honest. When I showed them to others, I was asked if I was OK. That’s when I knew I was on the right path.

“Disappearing act” acrylic, gouache, charcoal, oil pastels and spray paint, 24″ x 36″

My experience in the past few years has taught me that change is the only constant, and I believe this to be true especially when it comes to art. I refuse to lock in a style or subject. I find the beauty of art to reside in its ever-evolving nature.

“Subtle thought on a rainy afternoon” acrylic, gouache and charcoal 11.5″ x 16.5″

I can tell you where my inspiration came from for past work, but I can’t predict what will motivate me tomorrow or a minute from now.

“Ophelia on Xanax” acrylic, gouache and charcoal 22″ x 28″

Inspiration could come from a book, a word, the unexpected beauty found in crusty paint peeling off a wall, or a lonely piece of paper on the ground. This impulse will release itself in whatever shape it sees fit.

“Supernovacity” acrylic, gouache, charcoal, oil pastels and spray paint 24″ x 36″

I am a morphing creature highly responsive to my surroundings and constantly filtering through a lens of art and design.

“Lava inside” acrylic gouache and charcoal 11.5″ x 16.5″

I operate under the name Disloxication. Don’t look it up in the dictionary; I entirely made it up. It means “a state of intoxication caused by the dislocation of feelings.”

“Reflection” acrylic, gouache and charcoal 11.5″ x 16.5″

My collection Pieces of Soul for Sale comes from a raw, neurotic, unapologetic and uncomfortable place. Mine are bruised heroes rebelling against bias and judgment, seeking metamorphosis.

“Foresight” acrylic, gouache and charcoal, 11.5″ x 16.5″

The Happy City collection is an homage to Italo Calvino’s “The Baron in the Trees”. It celebrates independence and unconformity.

“Me” acrylic, gouache, charcoal and human

If we ever meet or interact, expect laughs and humor and gratitude for what I have.
