Fiery ring in the Swiss Alps bring out primal fears of predators

Douglas Gordon and Morgane Tschiember’s fiery ring installation burns brightly amidst the icy peaks of the Swiss Alps.

As close as you can for as long as it lasts is a temporary piece by the creative duo produced for the biennial event Elevation 1049. The fiery ring was one of 11 sculpture, performance, and AV installations supported by the LUMA Foundation in Gstaad, Switzerland. The ring hosted a performance depicting the tale of a lonely traveller, evoking primal fears of dangerous predators. The sculpture was the result of a collaborative effort that saw Tschiember creating the ring of fire, while Gordon contributed the sound piece.
