Floating organism sculptures made with a surprising everyday material

Brooklyn-based Sui Park creates fragile-looking sculptures that appear as sea creatures gently floating above the floor. The thin skeleton of this work places it in a fantasy world because this level of structure and fragility almost exclusively exists in nature. Amazingly, the only material Park uses is your average cable zip-tie to construct each intricate creature.

From afar the pieces appear to be made of glass, but once you are up close the true art medium is revealed. The tight geometric structure is impressive and possibly draws references and techniques from weaving. Below you can see how the organic organisms transform a space and question reality by using a simple technique with an everyday tool.
