Exploring the city of Milan, it’s not easy during the Fuorisalone. Here the second stop of our itinerary on the occasion of Milan Design Week 2019 (if you miss the first one, read here!).
With Milan Design Week 2019, the 5vie design district returns to the Fuorisalone, celebrating 180 years of Siam (Società d’Incoraggiamento d’Arti e Mestieri) at the group’s headquarters in Via Santa Marta 18. This year the focus is on territorial and natural resources

For the occasion 3 site-specific projects: Human Code the solo exhibition of Roberto Sironi in the The Siam underground, in via Santa Marta 18; in the spaces of the Oratorio della Passione of Piazza Sant’Ambrogio the first solo exhibition in Italy Il Pesce e gli Astanti by Carlo Massoud curated by Maria Cristina Didero; finally, the artist and designer Anton Alvarez wih the project L’Ultima Cera, curated by the Fonderia Battaglia’s artistic director Bellavance-Lecompte, in via Lanzone 13.
Exhibits, site-specific installations, parades, and sets to uncover in one of the oldest crossroads of Milan
Guest of honor for 5vie’s 2019 edition, designer Ugo La Pietra with an exhibit in the courtyard of Via Cesare Correnti 14. He will exhibit his solo Design Territoriale, Genius Loci: a symbolic sample of the territorial resources and traditions that nowadays construct Italian artistic and cultural heritage. From the mosaics of Spilimbergo, Monreale, and Ravenna to the Lecce stone of Lavagna, the alabaster of Volterra, marble of Carrara and Verona, and the glass of Murano, Altare, and Colle Val D’Elsa.

Hosted at Via Cesare Correnti 14, the latter comes from Kiki Van Eeijk and Joost Van Bleiswik, two Dutch creatives working at the limits of self-production, while recounting a love for materials and manual expertise. In our current climate characterized by a distinct lack of empathy, the two designers present Connect, exploring the links between architecture and space, art and design, and nature and mankind with a behind-the-scenes look at their laboratory in Eindhoven.
Do not forget Palazzo Litta, in corso Magenta, where you’ll find The Litta Variations / Opus 5, a selection of 22 exhibitors from 11 countries with 65 designer involved.

Masterly-The Dutch in Milan will mark the 350th anniversary of Rembrandt’s death with works from nearly 100 Dutch designers exhibited at Palazzo Turati – via Meravigli 7 – and four brands at 10 Corso Como.
Now that you’re here at 5vie district, walk towards Palazzo Belgiojoso – via Morigi 9 – to visit the Riflesso Botanico exhibition, an interior design project made by women. Finally, another exhibition at Rossana Orlandi gallery (Via Matteo Bandello 14).
On the occasion of Salone del Mobile 2019, Seletti will invade the 5VIE district with the DESIGN PRIDE parade, the most pop party of the Design Week. The rendezvous is on Wednesday April 18, 2018: the starting point will be in piazza Castello (corner of via Minghetti) at 6 pm.
The Gufram, Toiletpaper, Heineken, Saviola, Hospitality Truck brands are also in the parade, as well as students from IED and many designers.
