‘Air Garden’ is the name of the sculpture that Ball-Nogues Studio installed in the Los Angeles airport atrium. The creators describe the piece as “voluminous brush strokes on a translucent three-dimensional canvas.” The multi-colored hanging piece is composed of a series of beaded chains. “It is both an object and an atmosphere,” said the studio.
Ball-Nogues Studio, led by Benjamin Ball and Gaston Nogues, works on projects that live between the disciplines of architecture, art, and industrial design. Based in Los Angeles, the design group has exhibited in many museums including the Guggenheim and MOMA PS1.
