In BRUTANTES Everyday Items Meet Brutalism

More than just a collection of attractive sculptural objects in an interesting shade of orange, Sofia Alvarado’s BRUTANTES series is also functional. The design of each piece lays at the crossroads of everyday items and Brutalism with the end goal of being utilitarian. The muddy color – mattone orange – is a symbol of renunciation, while the metal reflects the normalcy of homogenization. This is the first volume of BRUTANTES, a series that will continue to be added to in form and materiality over time.

Each object features a metal structure that allows owners to continue personalization as new options such as wood surfaces, cement/stone, and/or reinforced glass become available.

While created in mattone orange, the objects that make up BRUTANTES are also available in ivory, gray suede, and mustard. Each included color was chosen to represent a sensation experienced. All of the pieces in the series are made in Panama in humane and environmentally conscious manners.
