Intern Insights: Design

Fall 2012 High School Intern Maha Ahmed discusses her experience at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. During this paid internship program for high school juniors and seniors, interns hear a range of museum staff discuss their careers, get behind-the-scenes tours of galleries, offices, studios, and laboratories, participate in hands-on sessions to develop knowledge, skills, and behaviors useful in a variety of occupations, and explore and discuss works of art in the museum’s galleries with fellow interns. They also observe, assist, and receive mentoring from a staff member in one of the Museum’s departments for a portion of their internship. Maha was placed in the Design Department under the supervision of Exhibition Design Manager Daniel Kershaw.
