Iridescent plumes of oil and water brilliantly capture the human eye

Eyes may be windows to the soul but they’re also extremely complicated to draw and render.

Artist Fabian Oefner has been exploring the visual effects of iridescence for ages. And now he’s out with a gorgeous new photographic series titled, “Oil Spill,” in which a syringe is used to release small droplets of oil into black reservoirs of water. The oil expands into plumes that resemble giant fires, irises, or exploding stars. Oefner then photographed the patterns cleverly depicting them as if they were eyes. Check out some images from the series below and find more on Behance.
