After creating murals for Empellón Taqueria in New York a few years ago (covered), Jeff Soto (interviewed) has returned to paint for another restaurant from chef Alex Stupak. Empellón Al Pastor in the Pod 39 Hotel features three pieces from the Riverside, California-based artist utilizing his signature imagery.

Soto explains – “I worked with an eye towards symmetry and math, with organic forms balancing geometric shapes. I put emphasis on complimentary colors that would add to the warm browns and oranges of the wood and tile decor. Chef Alex, being an artist himself, gave me freedom to create something beautiful and to react to the space”
