Niyoko Ikuta uses precisely layered glass to build her elegant clear sculptures. Their geometric shape makes them look like modern architecture, and can they easily be imagined on a building-size scale. They also reference water, nature, and drawing, appearing as three-dimensional blueprints.
Niyoko Ikuta explains her inspirations: “My motifs are derived from feelings of gentleness and harshness, fear, limitless expansion experienced through contact with nature, images from music, ethnic conflict, the heart affected by joy and anger, and prayer.”
