Marimekko Adds 40 More Ways to Decorate Your Walls With The Frame TV

When Samsung originally launched the lifestyle-focused The Frame television back in 2017, the display arrived as a godsend for anyone averse to the presence of a big black rectangle dominating their living space. With its combination of real world art impersonating technology alongside customizable frames, The Frame and its accompanying Samsung Art Store struck gold amongst aesthetes who wanted to decorate their walls with art rather than technology… but also binge on occasion. Samsung’s latest collaboration with iconic fashion and lifestyle brand Marimekko adds 40 new colorful options for The Frame owners who want to welcome a splash of Finnish fun onto their walls.

If you’re not acquainted with The Frame’s main feature, Art Mode, it’s a display mode designed to mimic painted or printed artwork, while also improving screen visibility using a combination of an anti-reflection technology and a matte display film across the screen to diminish any glare, whether night or day. \ Photo: Gregory Han

The collection launched at the top of this month, accessible via the Samsung Art Store’s front page installed on The Frame, showcasing a collection of 30 playful Marimekko designs and 3 seasonal collections of 12 prints rotating throughout the year. The collection includes iconic art by Maija Isola, the designer responsible for creating over 500 patterns for the Finnish brand. Also included is the prominent Unikko flower pattern, along with works by Fujiwo Ishimoto, Katsuji Wakisaka, Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi, and Maija Louekari.

Marimekko also created three designs and colorways of the Unikko print for Samsung, a floral print celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2024.

“We at Marimekko have always appreciated beautiful and joyful everyday life,” says Sanna-Kaisa Niikko, Chief Marketing Officer of Marimekko. “We are excited about our new collaboration with Samsung as it brings our bold patterns available as accessories and everyday art to new audiences. In this collaboration with Samsung, we are particularly happy to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Unikko.”

Later in March, Samsung plans to expand the Marimekko collaboration in select Nordic markets across their lifestyle accessories category, embellishing phone covers, Galaxy Buds cases, and watch wristbands with the Unikko print.
