Mesmerizing kinetic sculpture is one of the largest in the world

The Singapore Changi Airport is home to what is cited to be one of the world’s largest kinetic sculptures. ‘Kinetic Rain’ has 1,216 bronze rain droplets that span an area of 810 square feet and has a total height of 24 feet.

Suspended from thin wires, each droplet moves independently through a computerized system. The installation is programed with a 15-minute kinetic loop that cycles through 16 shape formations. Since the installation is sited at an airport, many of the shapes focus on flight— for example, airplanes, kites, and hot air balloons. This kinetic art piece is a beautiful inspiration to contemplate as one considers their own movements through the air.
