An incredible property of historical art is that it is a window into the time period in which it was painted. A time when, often, cameras were not around to document. Now, we live in a world where a portrait is not nearly as precious, with thousands of images of pop icons floating around the web. This series of digitally produced portraits humorously combines modern celebrities with historical paintings.
This project makes the modern celebrity more precious (maybe) and just really funny looking. The images are a result of a contest by Worth 1000 asking its users to combine the unlikely subjects. Below, you can see Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson, and Steve Carell among others.
