Napp Studio Reinterprets the Ubiquitous Stool Chair Found in Asia

In Asia, small stools are a ubiquitous item that’s commonly found in a variety of scenarios like homes, shops, restaurants, and parks. They’re extremely handy but are often overlooked and unappreciated despite being such a household staple. Inspired by their informal quality, multiplicity, and adaptability, Hong Kong-based multidisciplinary practice Napp Studio designed four contemporary versions of the popular small stool called the MINI-STOOLS.

The stools are made of three different kinds of solid woods, with one panel made particularly distinguishable with green paint. Each stool was designed based on a single verb that the MINI-STOOLS are used for: tread, lean, stamp, and lay. These words, therefore, informed the final design of the stools.
