New perspectives: the Northern Lights as seen from space

NASA Astronaut Scott Kelley is on a year-long mission at the International Space Station. Documenting his experience on Twitter, Kelley has shared some stunning photos of the Northern Lights from a point of view that is limited to only a small number of people.

From this new perspective, it’s easy to see the layers of the Aurora Borealis as the lights extend away from the Earth. We sure are glad that photos from space can be so easily shared with those of us who are closer to the Earth’s surface.
