We’re all just a little too familiar with bar codes these days; they seem to be either a necessary eyesore or a nuisance when they just won’t scan properly at checkout. Thankfully, the designers at the Japanese firm D-Barcode are making progress dealing with the problem of boring barcodes.
These artists have created a number of thoughtful designs that present the vertical black lines in a new way by making them unique little works of art. Of course, the bar codes retain full functionality, but become a great deal more pleasant to look at, and can even be tied into the theme of the packaging or the product itself.
