Pop figures painted on coin heads by Andre Levy

Brazillian artist Andre Levy has launched a project called Tales You Lose in which he paints humorous pop culture figures onto coin heads.

He works with the ‘coin’ paired with ‘pop figures’ for the two themes’ multifaceted role in society. He says that everyone is constantly surrounded by pop figures and that in a weird way these people are their only escape from ‘reality.’ Coins are physical evidence of one’s reality of working hard every single day. The pairing of the these ideas create a juxtaposing irony that questions perceptions of reality and individual expression versus mass-centric thinking.
