Portraits of famous authors created on a typewriter one line at a time!

Rio de Janeiro-based artist Álvaro Franca has a unique talent. The young creative uses a typewriter to compose stunning portraits of famous writers. By looking at a photo broken up by shaded layers, Franca translates the visual information to typeface. Each type-character he uses contains a specific shade-weight, which makes up the layers.

In his series below titled ‘Typewritten Portraits’ you can find Franca’s favorite writers like Jack Kerouac, J.D. Salinger, and Charles Bukowski, created one line at a time. It is hard to believe that these are not simply created in Photoshop and printed, but the in-process image below proves his skills!
