Post-punk musicians humorously reimagined as comic book superheroes

Brazilian illustrator Butcher Billy attempts to mash up two seemingly unrelated worlds of ’80s post-punk music icons and American comic book superheroes in his project ‘The Post-Punk/New Wave Super Friends.’ His unapologetic take on pop culture drawn on nostalgia to create something fresh is representative of his rule-breaking, chaotic attitude in art.

Needless to say, the likes of Morrissey of The Smiths, Siouxie, Robert Smith of The Cure, Billy Idol, Ian Curtis of Joy Division, and Adam Ant, can be considered superheroes of their own scenes. But can you imagine them in the superhero get-ups of Superman, Batman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman etc. fighting crimes to save the day? If you’re a child of the ’80s, you’ll surely get a kick out of these brilliant mashups.
