Installation art is about creating experiences and environments. The works are often large in scale, encompassing an entire space and creating a sensory connection with onlookers. Such is the case with Chiharu Shiota’s installation series.
These pieces fill the room with their black webs and dream-like textures. This piece titled Trace of Memory is currently on display at the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh. It is a massive site-specific installation covering eight rooms in the contemporary art museum.
