Steve and Joan Prasser are active outdoorspeople with three kids. Getting back into the car after a day of fun means they’re often sweaty, sandy, muddy, covered in sunscreen, etc., and they sought a way to protect their car seats.
The Prassers noticed what many of you probably have as well: These days car seats are pretty attractive–and aftermarket car seat covers are decidedly not. “Car manufacturers go to huge expense to make beautiful seats in real leather, fabric and synthetic leather,” they write, “so why keep them covered up just to protect them?”

In addition to finding existing car seat covers ugly, the Prassers didn’t want to cover their seats all the time, just on days when they’d gotten good and dirty. So they invented Scuvvers, an on-demand car seat cover made from durable and recycled 600D polyester. Scuvvers stow rolled-up behind the headrest, and when needed, can be unfurled to cover the seat.
Because Scuvvers don’t wrap all the way around the seat, they don’t interfere with side-mounted seat airbags. They have a silicone backing to prevent them from sliding around. They’re easy to remove and hose off in the yard or throw into a washing machine, and are meant to be hung up to dry.
