German artist Mike Dargas has created a sensual series of hyperrealistic paintings featuring closeups of women with honey running down their faces. The luscious portraits look so real they could easily be mistaken for photographs, when in fact they were all hand-painted with oil on canvas. Every gentle crease of the skin, and the glistening of liquid honey in the light is recaptured beautifully. It’s interesting how most of the models have their eyes closed as if they were lost in thoughts and moments frozen in time.
