Sentiments of the Sublime: Aquatic glass sculptures by Ben Young

Ben Young uses exquisite materials to explore sophisticated techniques that turn sheets of glass into luminescent sculptures.

The New Zealand-based sculptor’s aquatic landscapes are just plain gorgeous to behold and crafted by envisioning, hand-cuting and meticulously constructing glass pains to depict water and underwater topography. Often Young will top each piece off with another element such as a lighthouse or boat.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

He writes, “In creating work, by hand, that makes reference to the myriad of perspectives and experiences of others, Young’s work is both deeply personal to the viewer and at the same time exploring subject matter that is universal, connecting Young, his work and his viewers in a moment of awe and nostalgia.”
