Product Category–Gold Winner

China-based, BGI provides researchers and healthcare professionals with high-quality multi-omics data—delivered within rapid turnaround times and with scientific support—for all industry levels. The Huo-Yan (Fire Eye) Laboratory project, earned a Gold Award in 2021. This project was developed to address China’s fight against COVID-19. And, today, The Huo-Yan Laboratory continues to implement ideas and projects addressing mass population’s needs within reproductive health, infectious diseases, and tumors. Thier goal is to become the “standard” by which the medical and health systems in China will be upgraded and transformed.

Product Category–Silver Winner

d’stict is a Korean-based design firm that creates innovative spatial experiences by integrating content and digital media technology. In 2021, d’strict earned a Silver Award for WAVE, a public media artwork realistically expressing consistently crashing waves through an anamorphic illusion technique. WAVE rushed to shore on a giant L-shaped LED display in the Gangnam, a hopping Times Square-style district in South Korea’s capital city, Seoul.

Concept Group–Future Talents

O-Wind a blade-less generator won the Future Talent Award in 2021 for a product that allows for safe urban electricity generation in tight or small spaces. O-Innovations, a UK company based in Lancaster, aims to revolutionize urban access to renewable energy. Their award-winning product, O-Wind’s unique feature is its ability to harness both vertical and horizontal winds to generate clean electricity. Its blade-less design allows it to fit safely into dense urban environments and harness all the chaotic wind flows found in these areas while protecting humans from dangerous contact.

The 2022 Design Intelligence Award focuses on Design Collaboration—between design and technology. DIA hopes to link designers around the world to explore collaboration pushing design to integrate with science, technology and art through production, life and ecology.
