Melissa Schriek’s photo series ‘The City is a Choreography’ explores the contemporary European city by featuring street scenes and portraits in public spaces. It kind of probes the disconnection between the city and the people that reside within. With attention to the sculptural qualities of the human body and the relationship between space and individual as well as between each other, the city acts as a stage in every image. The photo series also explores the escape from the daily routine of everyday life and how the urban environment can be perceived with both eyes and body.
