The Armory Show is one of the most popular art shows in the country. Each year, it comes back and features highly important pieces of work from various artists. From painters to sculptors to performance artists, the show has become a huge platform for great talent. This 2017, multiculturalism takes the center stage. The focus is WHAT IS TO BE DONE? By raising awareness through art, the audience and participants get to work towards social change.
The show’s curator, Jarrett Gregory, points out that “this is not political art, nor does it have an agenda—it is art that helps us to see the historic moment in which we are living.” There definitely is a difference between meaningful art and political art. The artists are not taking sides or beliefs, but rather are educating the world about the issues that we must give focus to. The show runs through Sunday, March 5th.
