The Lexus Limo

It’s no bulletproof BMW, but luxury rival Lexus has also produced a specialty vehicle that’s not for regular consumers: The Lexus LM, a “sophisticated executive transport” vehicle with a minivan form factor.

The styling makes me assume this is designed for the Asian market. There’s a rather bizarre graphical treatment on the B-pillar that essentially contradicts the direction of the A-pillar, which looks dissonant to my Western-trained eyes. The company, however, says this design feature “enhances the vehicle’s side-view and hints to its premium nature.”

Strange styling aside, the inside is pure plushness, meant for execs to “ride in first-class comfort and style:

“The stately rear cabin caters to your every need with thoughtful amenities that include a large color display, refrigerator, and even umbrella storage for rainy days. With the touch panel on the center console, you remain in total control as you adjust the seat position, climate, and audio for the rear private space.”

Despite its minivan form, the standard LM only seats two rear passengers, featuring “two high-back, throne-style seats in the rear of the mobile space, ergonomically designed for superior comfort. In this configuration, the LM creates a rear-seat experience unrivaled among luxury vehicles.”

The company says they’ll also provide a seven-seat option, “ideally suited for business professionals with family transportation needs,” with three extra seats in the rear-rear; unfortunately at press time no photos of this option were available.

The LM will be offered in EV or hybrid versions, depending on the market. No word on whether the ‘States is one of them.
