The Mehmooni Furniture Collection Is a Party Waiting to Happen

Mehmooni, the debut furniture collection of Kouros Maghsoudi, was designed to foster and cultivate the spirit of a Mehmooni, which means “gathering” or “party” in Farsi. A first generation Iranian-American, born in the Frank Lloyd Wright suburbs of Chicago, Maghsoudi was inspired by Persian traditions and customs central to his culture and lighthearted postmodern design. The three pieces of the collection are made of a combination of organic materials, including corn-based, 3D-printed plastic and sustainably-sourced FSC-certified lumber.

Going further, Mehmooni is sustainable and carbon-neutral, with all materials sourced locally in the Tristate area and fabricated in Brooklyn for lower carbon emission. What emissions that do occur are calculated and offset using carbon credits to ensure the furniture collection is carbon-neutral and emission-free. Custom sizing, colors and finishes are available upon request for each of the designs.

Behsheen Chair

The versatile Behsheen Chair is ready to make some noise while perfectly pulling off a kitsch look. It’s similar to the low seating that can be found at traditional restaurants in Darband, Tehran, and invites one to get up close and personal with guests.

Taarof Table

The Taarof Table is a modular cocktail table inspired by Taarof, a Persian tradition of etiquette and generosity. Its available custom legs include a fruit basket, pewter ashtray and/or a double-walled ice bucket.

If you have a sense of humor, the Doodool Mirror will get a response. It’s simple, elegant and features a lighthearted phallic silhouette.
