Molds usually have one purpose which is to create multiples of a desired object, and so the making of the mold is often very painstaking to ensure perfect duplications. However, after they are used, these molds are pushed to the sidelines when the focus is shifted to the new object. Theodóra wanted to see if it was possible to extend the life of a mold beyond its original intent and make it as equally desirable to the object it creates. With Mould, her molds get a second life as colorful, abstract sculptures.
The molds are made out of MDF and the cast objects are made of Jesmonite.
For the next stage of this investigation, Theodóra wants to explore more industrial processes, like slip cast ceramics and glass blowing.
