Everyone who comes from the former Soviet bloc is more or less familiar with highly graphical, persuasive and fearless Soviet propaganda posters. The issue of alcohol is one of the most cultivated and recurring themes in these suggestible social advertisement posters. Even after half a century and in a completely different world, the messages are still quite relatable.
Our times and the contexts of our living are rapidly changing, but our major social issues remain the same. From an artistic point of view it’s interesting to observe the changes in social advertisement approaches, rules and ethics. However, the history seems a lot shorter and we, ourselves, seem to be a lot closer to our ancestors when the language of the message changes, but the message itself changes very little.
