This architecture scans your face and enlarges it 3,500 times in 3D. Most epic selfie EVER!

What is being called the first ‘selfie building,’ was designed by architect Asif Khan as part of the Sochi Winter Olympic park. Here’s how it works: visitors scan their faces in photo booths located inside the pavilion. Then, the 11,000 mechanical actuators that make up the building’s facade reposition themselves to translate the scan into a massive 3D sculpture; so that the visitor can witness their face enlarged 3,500 times its original size on the front of the building.

Khan expressed the concept behind this design was to make people “the face of the Olympics.” This is truly architecture appropriate for our digital, facebooking, texting and tweeting culture with its characteristics of immediacy and impermanence, as well as its ability to make the “everyday moment into something epic (Asif Khan).”
