These works of art are made up of thousands of rolled sheets of mulberry paper. Seoul-based artist Ilhwa Kim hand-dyes each piece of paper specifically for her complex compositions. This tactile construction process and 3D collage technique give the wall pieces unique sculptural qualities.
The compiled three-dimensional “seeds” cause the work to change constantly depending on the light and shadows. In this way the art becomes human, shifting in hue, depth, and even image as the day progresses. See more of Kim’s work on her website.
