Cornelius De Bill Baboul is an illustrator who isn’t afraid to mix toilet humor and teachings of the wisest philosophers of all time. In his new project, “Peelosophies”, he partners with publishing company Nieves to create illustrations that are somewhat funny and yet full of meaning.
The philosophies shown in the project come from the likes of Nietzsche, Leibniz, Derrida, and others.
According to the artist, “For each philosopher, there’s a specific tool or technique which matches to and translates the style of the writer. For example, I did paint Schopenhauer with the actual tail of my poodle, I literally used it as a brush. Schopenhauer had a poodle himself and it was one of the most important ‘people’ in his life, therefore this technique became completely self-evident!”
