In an age when many people see and document the world through a screen, our need to truly remember experiences has diminished. Textile designer Teresa Lim wanted a different experience; she wanted to understand the places that she traveled on a deeper level. Lim began to embroider pictures of amazing places on her journey in a series she calls ‘Sew Wanderlust.’
“I started the project late 2014 after I realized that with today’s state of the art technology, taking pictures becomes so easy” Lim explained. “I wanted something more from my travels, to be able to take back a part of that place with me. When I’m done with a piece, I actually feel like I KNOW that place, and that gives me a huge sense of satisfaction that I think just taking a photo wouldn’t give.”
