Ultra-modern glass summer home: ‘Överby’

This ultra-modern summer house called ‘Överby’ is located in Stockholm, Sweden and was designed by Architect John Robert Nilsson. The house features an open space with high glass walls. The entrance of the house is the only solid plaster wall in which the opening is a massive ceiling-high door.

Some materials are used throughout the house. Light materials include limestone from Gotland and silvery white ash wood, while the exterior is dark with matte-black plaster, roofing felt, and powder-coated steel. The contrast between light against dark is used to create a graphic spacial affect from outdoor to in.

The details in the Överby home have been beautifully considered, nothing more and nothing less than necessary. Can a house be too ‘modern’?
