Upcycling Industrial Plastic Waste Into Elegant Lacquered Utensils

“Throw it away and it is waste,” writes design consultancy Seki Design Lab. “Reuse it and it is raw material.” Seki’s designers, Hiroshi and Mayumi Seki, took high-performance plastic waste, used for machine parts and tools, from BASF and molded them into cutlery. They then had Tsuchinao Shikki, a manufacturer of lacquerware, apply their trade to the upcycled utensils.
