Watery sculptures bring the ocean to your living room through layered glass

The mysteries of the deep have fascinated us for millennia. Most people think space is the final frontier, but the ocean is the one we should tackle first. Inspired by the mysteries of waters both stormy and calm, Australian artist Ben Young began experimenting with layered glass and found a stunning art form.

Using sheets of hand cut laminate glass, Young layers them to create captivating images of the big blue. Self taught in the trade and grown on the banks of the sea, it seemed only natural to pursue this vantage. Young explains, “I love the liquid qualities the glass brings with it. It enables me to play with lighting and watch the glass react.”
