12 photos of geometric abstraction in architecture

In a photographic exercise of exploring geometric abstraction, German photographer Julian Schulze toured the cities of Berlin and Munich looking for lines, shapes, and patterns. In the resulting collection of images, we see how a shadow from a windowsill becomes a crisp triangle. We also see how a tightly cropped shot of a cement building can reveal the quiet beauty.

The photographer says, “At the heart of my approach is the freedom from objective context, the interplay of colors, and of course the composition of geometric patterns.”
