In 2012 mexican studio BNKR arquitetcura conceptualized and built a public pavilion on an architectural scale made from 5,000 stacking soda crates. The project was created for the annual expo CIHAC, held in Mexico City, to exemplify utilizing up-cycled materials in the public space. It was installed in the cafeteria and for one week and became home to socializing, snacking, and fantastic photo ops.
The mound of 5,000 soda crates was constructed with the help of 30 architecture students. When the event concluded the mountain was dismantled and the crates were returned to the soda company to continue with their intended function.
