Using various complex computer algorithm, Athens-based motion graphics and visual designer Dimitris Ladopoulos managed to divided famous paintings into their distinct color palettes. The color compositions were broken down into polygonal segments in the 3D animation software, Houdini. As an example, Ladopoulos digitally took apart Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn‘s Portrait of Johannes Wtenbogaert.
The idea is ingenious! Ladopoulous brings historical paintings into the contemporary world while almost changing the nature of the work. With this process, each painting can be viewed more as a purposefully designed object rather than just a painting.
