Complex mental disorders brilliantly visualized through minimal designs

We are finding more and more the difficulty of understanding mental disorders. If you have an infection you see it, treat it, and get better, but a mental disorder is much more complex and less tangible causing it to be more mysterious. As a way of articulating these common conditions, Patrick Smith has created some beautifully minimal designs.

He attempts to shed light on mental disorders like OCD, depression, and anorexia, through graphic design. The compositions are bold and almost emotional in their simplicity. The representation of OCD describes the feeling of the condition and makes me anxious while Dissociative Identity Disorder visually describes what is happening, showing layers of a similar shape.
