Creepy illustrations of world leaders stripped of “One Millimeter” skin

Watching the news about the recent G7 summit in Sicily provoked Australian creative director Alex Wadelton to create his recent project. In collaboration with Irish art director and retouching artist Marcus Byrne, the duo gave birth to “One Millimeter” – a series of edited photographs of world leaders stripped away of their skins.

No matter how gruesome and gory the series would seem, Byrne recalls that “each artwork was a labor of love.” Using different types of techniques in Photoshop, they boast of the series as something that “is quite confronting and unlike any other.”

The main idea of One Millimeter was intended to tell the audience to look past race, color, and gender. “It struck me that the only difference between us all is literally the skin we’re in. The one millimeter of skin that covers each human. Strip that away and what lies beneath us all is a fragile creature,” says Wadelton.
