Dark comic strips that will leave you guilty for laughing

Since its first strip came out in 20017, The Perry Bible Fellowship has been tickling people’s funny bones with its dark sense of humor. A lot of its content, however, is so morbid that it can leave you feeling guilty. But that’s just what makes the newspaper comic strip unique from all of its other competitors.

Nicholas Gurewitch, the creator of The Perry Bible Fellowship, drew the first content for the Syracuse University newspaper called The Daily Orange. He explains his storytelling style as “the clarity of obscurity” which also bravely tackles a lot of taboo topics such as religion, violence, death, and sexuality. When asked how he looks at his work, he admits that “it shows the idealism of my Dad colliding with the realism of my Mom. Or, I see the idealism of my Mom colliding with the realism of my Dad. The idea of the ‘real’ colliding with the ‘ideal’ has been suggested to me by many artists.”
