Daisy Youngblood is an artist working in ceramic and bronze who makes powerfully spiritual sculptures. Her current solo exhibition at McKee Gallery, âDaisy Youngblood: Ten Years 2006â2015,â showcases her most recent figures and animals.
Youngblood prefers a lightly worked surface, sensitive and meditative and often incorporates found materials like found wood or stones. She fires the work to a low temperature and encourages subtle colors and variations. There are grim undertones to the work though, the figures eerily stare into space appearing somewhere between meditative and depressed.
