Using eggs as a way to represent the chaos in people’s lives Urs Fischer created a series of portraits of individuals throughout history with eggs in front of their faces. The state of the egg, intact or destroyed, represents something about the unseen emotional or personal life of that anonymous person.
The titles Fischer chooses for each piece reenforces to the viewer that the state of the egg represents that state of the person. For instance, a photo showing an intact egg might be titled “Half a Problem,” while a messed up yoke might be titled “Sloppy Problem.”
