Foscarini’s Madre Lamp Is Inspired by the Silhouette of Hips

Inspired by the hips of mother goddess statues, the Madre lamp’s shape draws on this classic silhouette. Andrea Anastasio designed this table lamp for Foscarini to represent a container of life and to explore the change of day and night.

There’s an opening at the front of the lamp, which brings added dimension to the design. This opening also reflects light—even with the lamp turned off—to create a magical feel.

In addition to its function as lighting, the Madre lamp is also a vase. Thanks to a heat-proof design and frosted borosilicate glass, it can preserve fresh flowers. This allows for a stunning composition between the live flowers and the lamp’s shape.
