The language of hip hop music has been culled for optimistic gems in Zan Barnett’s recent book project, Hip Hoptimism. Using bold typesetting and hand lettering, the book is an A to Z guide with a different music artist for each letter— from Andre 3000 to Jay Z. The text is paired with creative illustrations and fold out pages quoting notable lyrics.
Barnett produced the project for a graduate seminar course at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia.
