“Karen Wants The Neighborhood Adult Valentine’s Party Cancelled Since She Can’t Take Her Kids”: Person Shares Screenshots To Expose A Neighbor They Have To Deal With

Being a good neighbor requires kindness, respect, and support for those around you. That might sound like a lot, but it allows us to create a sense of belonging and safety in places where we spend huge portions of our lives. And today, when many feel isolated and disconnected, it can make a huge difference.

However, one or two toxic people can seriously contaminate the whole bunch. A few days ago, Reddit user TheVioletJinx made a post on the platform’s ‘F You, Karen‘ community to illustrate just how easily that might happen.

In it, the woman shared a conversation that, by the looks of it, took place in her neighborhood’s Facebook group, where one lady had a huge problem with the fact that the upcoming local Valentine’s Day party is not allowing any kids.

This whole situation is a prime example of how neighbors often argue over the pettiest things.

According to research commissioned by Homes.com, the biggest cause for this in the US is parking, followed by animal noise, general noise, and disputes over garbage.

In fact, 40 percent of Americans try to avoid their errant neighbors intentionally, with Northeast neighbors more than twice as likely to say theirs are rude when compared to the Southwest.

The biggest reasons for this avoidance are simply not having time to stop and talk (being too busy), and thinking the people next door are weird.

As a group, nosy neighbors were a major factor in the survey, with one in five (20 percent) of respondents suspecting their neighbor spies on them (keeping tabs on their whereabouts and what they are up to).

All the not-so-neighborly interactions can sometimes be a catalyst to move, with one in six (16 percent) having actually switched homes in part because of it, while a further 20 percent are either currently considering it or have at least thought about it in the past.

“We often hear location, location, location as a key consideration of where we choose to live and neighbors are a large part of that location component,” Grant Simmons, Vice President at Homes.com said. “Nothing enhances or diminishes a community’s attraction as much as the residents themselves, especially in areas where a neighbor’s behavior can directly impact those around them.”

At least the majority of residents in TheVioletJinx’s area are okay, though!

As the conversation went viral, the original poster (OP) described her neighborhood in greater detail

And people had a lot to say about it
